Inside, our open-plan rooms are bright, spacious, and full of opportunities for hands-on learning. Children move freely between activities that fuel their curiosity — from water play and creative arts to construction, baking, music, and small-world play.
Babies are cared for in a warm, nurturing space tailored to their routines and needs, with sensory play zones, cosy corners, and plenty of one-to-one attention from a familiar team.
Older children thrive in our stimulating learning environments — where independence, imagination, and confidence grow every day. Outdoor play is a huge part of our daily rhythm, and children enjoy free flow to our gardens whatever the weather.
Children at East Anton enjoy regular trips to Finkley Down Farm, as well as walks, park visits, and community outings that bring the world to life in real, exciting ways.

The Baby Retreat
Our Baby Retreat at Finkley East Anton is where little lives begin their biggest journey — in a calm, nurturing space created just for them. Designed for children aged 3 months to 2 years, it’s a peaceful, homely room full of warmth, care, and gentle discovery.
We keep our baby numbers small so that every child is truly seen, held, and known. There’s a rhythm to the day — shaped by your child’s individual routine — filled with familiar faces, soft lighting, sensory exploration, and endless cuddles.
This is where your baby’s earliest friendships begin. Where they’ll explore textures, learn to sit, crawl, cruise, and climb. Where they’ll splash in water trays, laugh in our baby ball pool, and potter outside in their own private garden, safely surfaced for crawling and exploring year-round.
From treasure baskets and songs to outdoor tummy time and stories on laps, every moment is packed with love, security, and just the right level of stimulation.
It’s gentle. It’s joyful. And it’s the perfect start.
My son recently started at Finkley East Anton. He has settled in so quickly and is always happy when he is dropped off and picked up. I love the pictures that get uploaded onto the app and all the information I receive about his day. The baby room team are great and always really approachable.
Explorers’ Zone
Welcome to our Explorers’ Zone — a vibrant, open-plan space where toddlers and preschoolers aged 2–5 learn, play, and grow together in a buzzing, community-focused environment.
By keeping our older children together, we create a natural learning flow. The younger ones learn by watching, imitating and joining in. The older children gain confidence, leadership and empathy as they help and include their younger peers. It’s a beautiful dynamic that builds social strength and lifelong friendships.
Our room is full of discovery zones: an inspiring art corner, a life-skills kitchen for real-world learning, a book nook for quiet moments, and a much-loved soft play area for big movement and big fun.
Children have free-flow access to the outdoors throughout the day, with mud kitchens, planting, water play and construction all within reach. There’s no set route through the day — just space to explore, try new things, and follow their fascinations.
We support every child to grow at their own pace, guided by the EYFS and backed by a team who bring energy, expertise, and care to everything they do.
I can’t recommend this nursery enough. They have seen our daughter from age 2 to starting school. She has come on leaps and bounds and her confidence has grown massively. Each day is never the same and learning through play gives them the encouragement they need.”
The Sensory Space
At Finkley East Anton, our Sensory Space is more than just a room — it’s a carefully crafted sanctuary for calm, comfort and emotional growth. Designed with the sensory needs of young children in mind, this purpose-built space supports self-regulation, focus, and emotional wellbeing for every child in our care.
The atmosphere is soft and welcoming — with bubble tubes, fibre optic lights, tactile panels, calming sounds, and plush furnishings creating a space that children are naturally drawn to. It’s somewhere they can pause, take a breath, and feel completely safe and grounded.
The Sensory Space plays an especially important role for children with additional needs, offering a structured yet flexible environment that helps reduce sensory overload and build trust. But it’s not just a specialist provision — it’s a universal favourite. From toddlers to confident preschoolers, our children love spending time here, whether it’s for quiet one-to-one moments, small group activities, or simply a break in a busy day.
This space also supports emotional literacy — giving children time and space to name their feelings, calm their bodies, and reconnect when they’re feeling overwhelmed. It’s a natural extension of our nurturing ethos, reinforcing the idea that it’s okay to rest, reflect, and reset.
We see the difference it makes every single day — in confidence, behaviour, and connection.
This place and the staff have really helped my daughter develop emotionally, physically and educationally. She has struggled with her speech and they have communicated with us and helped develop a plan forward and now she is forming sentences. We feel she has progressed so well thanks to the staff.
The Great Outdoors
At Finkley East Anton, outdoor learning is more than a daily tick-box — it’s a way of life. Our secure nursery garden is a purpose-built haven for climbing, running, experimenting, and discovering. It’s active, messy, and packed with opportunity.
Children race trikes, stir up magic in the mud kitchen, grow herbs in raised beds, and crawl into dens for quiet conversations or role play. The rubber surface underfoot means they can move confidently in all weathers — and they do.
But we don’t stop there. Just beyond the garden gate is East Anton’s public field and playground, and we make full use of both — heading out for walks, group games, wildlife spotting and big-sky adventures. These local outings help children feel connected to their community, grow physically strong, and expand their sense of space, confidence and independence.

Absolutely fantastic nursery! My child has thrived since starting at Finkley East Anton. The setting is idyllic, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor exploration and play. The staff are warm, welcoming, and incredibly dedicated to providing top-notch care and education.
Bertie the Bus
Meet Bertie — our beloved 9-seater Mercedes Vito and one of the most exciting parts of life at Finkley East Anton. Fully equipped, safely maintained, and packed with potential, Bertie is how we take our learning out into the world beyond the nursery gates.
Whether it’s our regular visits to Finkley Down Farm or a spontaneous trip to the library, the museum, or the park, Bertie helps turn ordinary days into unforgettable adventures. Every child — from our tiniest babies to our confident preschoolers — can come along for the ride, thanks to carefully fitted age-appropriate seats and journeys led by our trained, trusted team.
These regular outings build confidence, spark curiosity, and help children connect with their wider world. They also support important life skills — from road safety and routines to social awareness and sensory exploration.
And every now and then, Bertie goes further — to the woods, the coast, or even the zoo — opening up even bigger opportunities for discovery, wonder, and imagination.
He’s more than just a mode of transport. He’s Bertie — and he’s loved by every child (and grown-up!) here.
One thing both me and my son love about the nursery is that they take the children on lots of trips... the museum, the farm, the park, the fire station, and so many more places! His confidence has grown so much since he started, and I’m so glad we chose this nursery for him.”

Nursery Education Funding
We are approved providers of the early years educational grant for eligible 9-month-olds, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds, and 4-year-olds. We will provide you with all the necessary information and parent declaration forms to complete as your child becomes eligible. However it is your responsibility to apply for your funding code from the government and renew this as required
Please note that this funding covers education only and does not include additional costs such as sundries, activities, visits, and hot meals. Therefore, an optional daily charge may apply for these extras. Details on this can be provided by the Nursery Manager.

Payment Terms
- Fees are annualised, Invoices remain the same, including when the nursery is closed for bank holidays and training days. Fees are calculated over 51 weeks, ensuring parents are not charged for the Christmas break.
- Fees are payable monthly in advance by the 1st of each month. Payments received later than the 4th of the month will incur a 10% late payment penalty.
- All fees must be paid by Direct Debit, Tax free childcare or childcare vouchers unless pre-authorised.
- All sessions contracted for must be paid for, No reductions are made for time off due to holidays, sickness or other absences. You can book additional sessions if the setting has the availability to accommodate them. Two months written notice is required if you wish to cancel your child’s place or reduce/change their sessions.
Registration & Deposit
- A non-refundable administration fee of £55 is required to register your child. This covers the costs of setting your child up on our waiting list system.
- A £100 deposit is required to hold the place. This deposit is refunded off your last bill subject to the nursery account being up to date. Should this deposit be used to hold a space where only entitlement hours are used and no optional extras or extra hours or food then it is refunded off the first full months bill.
- If the parent postpones the start date after confirmation, Finkley Nurseries reserves the right to charge from the original agreed start date.
Staff Training Closure Days
The nursery is closed for 2 formal staff training days per year. The staff training days for 2026 are Friday 24th April 2026 and Thursday 15th October 2026.
Christmas Closure Days
We close over the Christmas Period, with our last day open before Christmas being Tuesday 22nd December 2026, and we are back open on Monday 4th January 2027. The bank holiday dates during the Christmas closure are 25th December 2026, 28th December 2026 and 1st January 2027.
Bank Holiday Closure Days
The Nursery is closed for Bank Holidays. These days are chargeable. The Bank Holidays for 2026 (excluding Christmas and New Year) are as follows:

Term Time Closures
The Nursery is closed to Term Time only children on the following dates:
- Spring Half Term: Monday 16th February to Friday 20th February 2026
- Easter Holidays: Monday 30th March to Friday 10th April 2026
- May Half Term: Monday 25th May to Friday 29th May 2026
- Summer Holidays: Monday 20th July 2026 to Thursday 3rd September 2026
- Autumn Term First Day: Friday 4th September 2026
- October Half Term: Monday 26th October to Friday 30th October 2026
